John Dunbar trained as a draughtsman in marine engineering, later changing professions into Architecture.

He attended Edinburgh College of Art in the late sixties.

Has always a passion for speed and has karting and motor racing experience.

After 2 years of competing in the Modsports class, the expense became too much to continue.

Have since enjoyed the painting of all kinds of cars for many years, mainly racing cars of the era when the drivers could be seen completing to the atmosphere of speed.

Prefers to paint in oils in the landscapes as well as the car paintings.

 

Solo exhibitions in Muscat in 1981 and Queens’s hall Edinburgh 1999,

Scottish arts Club 2014.

President of the Scottish Society of Architect Artists and regularly exhibits in their annual exhibitions.

A member of the Guild of Motoring Artists. Exhibited at Coys historic festival in 2000 & 2009 and Velocity in USA 2008

Arts convenor for the Scottish arts club. Edinburgh 2013-2015
