AGM & Exhibitions in 2016

GMA AGM

We plan to have the AGM at the centrally convenient Heritage Motor Centre (HMC) in Gaydon again who always welcome us (and where we have of course exhibited in the past and could do again if we wanted to). The date of the AGM will be issued in the new year, but assume it will be aimed for the last Sunday of April or 1st Sunday of May 2016, or June (see first exhibition). At the AGM again, we will review and collect artworks for our JLR first exhibition that would follow and hung the next day.

GMA AGM was held at the Gaydon ‘Heritage Motor Centre’ Museum this year and planned for 2016

Jim Clark & 1960’s motor sport exhibition at Duns

Our first exhibition, is now be part of the Jim Clark memorial exhibition, which is to be held in the Duns Library Contact Centre in Scotland, where the assistant curator for the Scottish Borders Council, Andrew Tulloch, has invited the GMA to exhibit. The exhibition will be the ‘Stars and Scenes 1960’s Motor Racing’ and of course will also include images depicting Jim Clarks and related subjects, from pits, crowds, trophy presentations, workshops and garages. The date for this exhibition is the 23rd April to 4th June 2016 with a planned private view of the 22nd April. I will be receiving more details from Andrew this month and will post this out in the new year for an update and review of logistics. We of course have members from our Scottish borders whom I am confident will be happy to coordinate things too.

Jaguar Land Rover Exhibition at Gaydon

Our second exhibition will follow our AGM, which will coincide with our Duns exhibition and will require careful managing of the paintings due to go to Duns and those to go to JLR Gaydon. We would plan to hang the JLR exhibition in the JLR Gaydon ‘Street’ and hang for 4 & ½ days. The GMA previous exhibitions in the ‘Street’ has always attracted large numbers of staff and suppliers who frequent this area daily with many positive comments and again 15% of any sales would go to the JLR BEN charity.

Ford exhibition at Dunton

Then our third main exhibition would again be at Ford Dunton but this would be later in the summer, circa July or August, but this date is still TBC and often not issued by Ford until June. As in past years this exhibition now stretches over a week and a half, often hanging in one week and hanging until the end of the following week. Like JLR, the Ford exhibition sales would see the GMA donated 15% of any sales to the Ford charity committee. This exhibition at Ford Dunton always coincides with its annual Vehicle Enthusiast Day which coincides with a track event, a concourse event and classic car show.

Southend Beacroft Gallery in 2016 or 2017

The Southend on Sea Beacroft gallery has recently moved from its position opposite the Cliffs Pavilion to central Southend next to the Museum (which used to be the ‘old‘old library) and is now in the ‘new’ old Library (confused!) Though the new Beacroft gallery is an excellent spacious and nicely lit venue for art exhibitions and is widely publicised in Essex and many people who commute to London live in the area. Recently it held the Essex open and is now showing an internationally renowned Graphics artist and the Hadleigh Art Trail. There is a two year waiting list, but the gMA may gain a slot in 2016 if a cancellation occurs, otherwise will be exhibit there in 2017.
