Artist Statement: Self taught although has been drawing since he was 3 years old I have always had a love of cars and particularly race cars, influenced by my father’s  interest in cars . Through my connections in the motorsport world I have been able to gain access to some famous drivers such as Stirling Moss, Tony Brooks, John Surtees, Nick Mason, Derek Bell who have all signed my work.  

 

I studied A Level  Graphic Art and loved to replicate the images I saw in Grand Prix International . The F1 cars were covered in advertising  so I could use my graphic skills to accurately reproduce the logos and lettering which gave shape and contours to the body work .  A trip to Cuba inspired me to take hundreds of photographs of the beaten up cars and that led to a different, freer style of painting.

 

I also paint race horses and love the muscle formation and the  bright colours of the jockeys’ silks – images to be found on my IG account horse_power_art
