The journey:- My motoring interests no doubt stem from a 60s childhood steeped in Scalextric, model aircraft and hot rod magazines. Memorably, a mate's dad competed in VSCC events with a string of gutsy cars. Tantalisingly, they were always in bits on his garage floor, pistons, rods, sprockets, chains, everything laid bare.
As for art, I had little interest until college. I studied 3D Design at Brum Poly before a career in the, then burgeoning, world of retail design. I developed a level of competence doing marker visuals and found I enjoyed it. I comfortably transitioned into CAD as it became a viable tool, although sadly my drawing then got a bit wobbly. But now, I've rediscovered my arty mojo!
I'm drawn to an industrial aesthetic and appreciate elegance in design. Elegance in terms of achieving the maximum effect with a minimum of means. Hence the appeal of the balls out, nut and bolt specials of my application. My non motoring submission is of an even older relic. Pentre Ifan, a neolithic dolman in Pembrokeshire.
I mainly use acrylic paint on virtually anything and enjoy pushing an idea to see how it can develop, it's not always a successful strategy though! I'm in the "I begin with an idea, then it becomes something else" school of art.
I suppose that about sums me up, apologies for exceeding my 200 words. But please don't hesitate to contact me for any further information.
